[…] Another show we could see this Thursday, dominated by rain was “Zoomwooz”, an audiovisual work created by Andrés Beladiez and Karla Kracht. “it is a live cinema spectacle in which we make use of small objects, lights and shadow play to talk about capitalism, consumption and this system in which we think we are free”, explain the artists, that have been working together for 2 years. “We started working in Bolivia, a place where capitalism is still incipient and we premiered the piece in Seoul, a country that has developed in only 30 years into a big economic power”, add the artists, that are performers during the show.
The work “zoomwooz” takes place in any kind of city, constructed by Andrés and Karla, using small paper cut-outs whose growth is accompanied by the omnipresence of advertising billboards that invite to consume hamburgers from Mc Donald’s, Pepsi Cola or live a parallel life through social networks such as Facebook.
“All this represents an apparent freedom, in which we believe we are happy and in which the individual is being forced to play a game he doesn’t want to play”, explains Andrés. This show, which has been premiered at the International Theatre and Dance Fair in San Sebastian, has been exhibited in many countries such as Bolivia, Poland, Germany, South Korea or Canada.
“In Spain we hardly presented this work. It is a hard to categorise, so we have been invited by many different kinds of festivals: dance, cinema, puppet theatre, animation film… We also presented the work in an old gas tank in Tenerife”, explain the artists, that anticipate that their next work will be called “2062”, a piece in which they will analyse the effects of migration.
